Futlility of Fad Diets

Where there is a fad diet, there is hope. False hope. Fad diets that offer quick weight loss can be physically dangerous, expensive and wreak havoc on your emotional well being every time you fall short of a goal. Yes, you will probably lose a few pounds in the beginning but its water weight or lean muscle you’re getting rid of, not fat. And if you manage to stick with your fad diet of choice for any real length of time (atkins diet, cabbage soup, etc) you are almost certainly denying your body some of the vital nutrients it needs to work effectively.

But here’s the real irony: The harder you try to shed pounds with fad diets and the more times you lose and regain on the fad diet roller coaster, the more damage you do to your metabolism which is one of your body’s best friends when it comes to maintaining a healthy weight.
